Colon-cancer-definition

Definition
Colon cancer is a tumor disease of the colon (large intestine). Rectal cancer affects the last inches of the colon, so that together the two disorders is called colorectal cancer. The majority of colon cancer begins as a benign proliferations of cells, polyps form. In time some of these polyps can turn malignant colon cancer.

Polyps are small and in most cases are asymptomatic. For this reason, doctors recommend screening tests for which can detect these polyps before they escalate malignant.
